Absenses and Attendance |
We encourage you to have your child here each day unless he/she is ill. Please call the school if your child will not be at school and send a note stating why your child was absent when he/she returns to school. Please do not pick up your child early unless it is an emergency. Each child's schedule is arranged so that morning and afternoon classes are equally important. For perfect attendance parties and awards, a student must be in attendance the full class day.
Absences are monitored and reported to the SSISD Truant Officer when 10 absences occur. Charges against the parent may be filed at this time.
It is important to have your child here before the tardy bell at 8:30. If a student is tardy, he/she will work with his first period teacher from 2:50-3:30.
Maintaining good attendance and punctuality teaches students responsibility and carries over when they attend college and afterwards as they pursue their careers.

School Safety |
For the safety of our students and faculty, all visitors must report to the office upon entering the building. All visitors must wear visitor badges to be in the hallway.
Emergency Contacts: The school needs 2 emergency phone numbers so that you or a designated person can be contacted if an emergency arises. Notify the campus if your address and/or phone number changes during the year.

|
Cell Phones and Other Technology Devices |
Student cell phones and devices must not be used or visible on the campus and school buses. These items will be taken up if a faculty member becomes aware of any of these devices in a student's possession. The student's parent will be responsible for picking up any item after a $15.00 fee is paid. |
|
Parent/Teacher Communication |
It is important that teachers, parents and your child are involved in your childs education. Communication between parents and teachers is a key part of this involvement. Each school day your child will bring home his/her Take-Home Folder. This serves as a daily communication between you and the teachers. This folder contains homework assignments, daily progress reports, and a designated place for notes between you and the teacher. The parent or a designated person should sign this nightly.
At the end of each week, you will receive a Douglas Activity Calendar. This will include a schedule of activities for the following week.
Parent conferences can be set up by calling the school, 903-885-4516. |
